Program Coordinator for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)/Neighborhood Pride
Position Overview: The Program Coordinator for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)/Neighborhood Pride assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the six-week employment and training initiative. The Coordinator supports the Director of Operations in achieving program goals, including promoting socially responsible decision-making, supporting continued education, fostering Neighborhood Pride, and preparing disadvantaged youth aged 14-19 for gainful employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation and Support:
Assist in developing and coordinating the overall program schedule and activities.
Work with the City’s Parks and Recreation and other community partners to integrate job skills training and community beautification components.
Ensure compliance with all program guidelines and eligibility requirements.
Staff Support and Training:
Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training program staff and volunteers.
Provide support and guidance to program staff during activities and events.
Help monitor staff performance and provide feedback as needed.
Participant Coordination:
Assist in the recruitment and selection of program employees.
Support employees throughout the program, addressing any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
Monitor employee progress and provide necessary resources and support.
Administrative and Resource Management:
Assist in managing the program budget and resources.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities and employees.
Help seek additional funding or resources as needed to support program activities.
Evaluation and Reporting:
Assist in developing and implementing evaluation tools to measure program outcomes and impact.
Prepare and submit regular reports on program progress and outcomes to the Director of Operations.
Utilize feedback to contribute to continuous improvements to the program.
Community Engagement:
Help foster relationships with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders.
Assist in promoting the program and its benefits within the community.
Represent the program at community events and meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, public administration, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience in program coordination or a similar role, preferably in youth services or community development.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Knowledge of local community resources and services is a plus.
Compensation:
Hourly rate: $26/hour
Average of 30 hours per week
Additional Information:
This is a temporary position starting on July 5th and ending on August 16th.
There is an opportunity for additional responsibilities once this assignment ends.
Working Conditions:
The position requires flexibility, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
The Program Coordinator will work in a classroom type setting but will also spend time at various City parks and community locations.
